XC 70 'bonnet open' Dashboard sensor
Discussion
Hope someone can help:-
The Hood/bonnet warning light comes on when driving my 2010 volvo D5 XC70. I've tried opening + closing bonnet several times without success, also tried spraying the 2 bonnet catches with WD40 and grease without success. The dashboard light has been on for a couple of weeks without any side effects - however last night the cars alarm siren sounded - why now after a couple of weeks?
>
I need to sort this - any ideas? I've looked on you tube - several videos showing a Paper clip being used to short out the circuit in the bonnet sensor plug connector, but none of these vids show where this sensor or connector is located in engine bay, I've removed the front grill expecting the sensor/plug to be close to the bonnet catches- but no it's not where I'd expect it to be??

Can anyone explain where to find this sensor/plug - [maybe mark on the photo I uploaded] or if you have had this problem maybe you can suggest a solution.

This would make me think right hand side.

Had exactly the same (random alarms/bonnet open indications) on my v40.

Now sorted - what a barsteward of a job

The plug connector is well hidden under the panel [where you can see my glasses on top of the panel] in the top view of the engine bay in original pic - on Drivers side. No amount of Wd40 would have sorted it, the wire had broken between the plug and the catch, a paper clip sorted it
