Hello knighty,

I can install MTE software in your car at the very special summer offer price of £285 including VAT.

I am located in north west London and could carry out the installation at any convenient time 7 days a week. I do in fact have a demonstration ECU with MTE software installed that you can try before you buy.

The method is to remove the ECU from your car and connect it, unopened, to the equipment, makes some checks for compatibilty, effect the software istallation, refit the ECU and you are on your way after a test run.

You might like to check on www.mte.se and their related site www.tme.se for some background and their claimed outcomes.

Regards, Don.Norchi.

Good afternoon Rob,

The outcome with the MTE software is 270bhp/405nm.

However, as these cars have aged it is not allways possible to gain this figure. The deteriotation of the HT leads, worn distributor, ageing solenoid/Amal/boost control valve all contribute to not achieving the best outcome, depending on mileage and level of maintenance: whereas these shortoming do not effect standard performance but do have an effect where increases in boost, fuelling and timing ask more of various components.

There is no live mapping involved here: the MTE maps have been refined for over 10 years now to get the best out of a standard engine. On the road mapping can get the very best out of a car with many physical mods and changes from standard specs., but isalso time consuming and costly.

On the Focus ST front I am waiting for some software from Sweden for these cars. Although the engine and g.box in the Focus is exactly the same as that in the Volvo S40/V50 T5's and they both use the Bosch ME9 ECU, the Volvo software was written in Gothenburg and that for the Focus in Dunton. Ford have used much more of the encryption facilities available in the ME9 than have their Volvo counterparts and are using some different protocols as well. This is what is proving such as obstacle to those tuners in the ST market at present and is giving rise to some quirky outcomes.

Hopefully we have enough special knowledge to produce a really good software package for the ST, which should cover all the areas presently causing difficulties to others.

I already have special exhausts, suspension and an LSD for the Volvos which will go straight into the ST.

You can allways 'phone me.....

Regards, Don.

Both RICA and BSR already have tuned software available for the Ford Focus ST.
