Hi does any body know of a longitudinal style RWD gear box that will bolt up to the 2.3 T5 engine, (found in the 850), relativly easy?

Possibly a gearbox out of an old vovlo that had a longitudinal engine?

People might think im crazy but the plan is to convert the normally transvers 850 engine to londitudinal and place it in somthing abit different.

Im a FORD person to be honest, and volvo tuning is new to me hence this question.

cheers!

I'm not sure about this, but I *think* I've read about a similar conversion - i.e. putting the T5 engine in a RWD 740 (or something like that).

Might be worth having a look at Turbobricks ( http://turbobricks.com/), they seem to deal with modifying older RWD stuff.

Hi - just joined the forum and my first post

Yeah the M90 gearbox out of the 940 24v 2.5 fits striaght on - you need and adaptor to mount the starter motor - I'll get the part number off the Vadis system if required - cost me £19 from main dealers - thats all - even use the same clutch plate etc

Have a look at my blog right down the bottom - shows picture using M90 gearbox on a 2319cc 20v T5 unit

Hope this helps

Cheers fella this is a gr8 help.

Can you recomend any companies that produce stronger con rods for the 2.3 T5. ive tried a google search but aint having any luck. found a company called VMS but they do not have a very good reputaion on some of the volvo forums ive been researching on.

cheers agen!

You're probably best speaking to Don from Kalmar Union, he'll keep you right regarding uprated rods (and pretty much anything else I should imagine).

He is a member on here but be advised his website contact details are a bit out of date.

The correct phone number is 0208 959 3230, and email don@kalmar-union.com

I would think unless you are running massive horse power standard rods will take the abuse - I had a set made for my cosworth merc by JE Pistons - they are superb quality but seriously expensive. How much power were you thinking of running?
