Like j-skid i'm thinking of a volvo, possibly c70 cabriolet, any idea of the insurance group for these ?

What is a 'fly by wire' throttle ? confused
Are they a common trouble spot ?

Are there any independant specialists in Bolton, M/C area ?
Sorry if these questions have all been answered many times before.
Any help appreciated

give me the year and model and I can tell you the group -

Fly by wires are absolutely fine and only cause grief if not looked after - we're a volvo specialist and we can clean them and reset them for bugger all cash - (usually around 50quid) All Cabriolets will be fly by wire.

Edit - Sadly we're in Norwich - bit of a trek from bolton!

I'm thinking of a 2.0, 20v around 02/03 year, but open to suggestions.

Thanks

I've got a 2.0 C70 Cab.
Personally I've had no issues with the throttle.
Most ME7 cars of this vintage have had the ECU software updated to remedy any issues.
Insurance group 15.
Not too bad, I'm 41, full no claims, no points, lives on drive, insured throught Chris Knott circa £300-£350.
Theres a resonable independant in Rochdale:

Never used them, but my previous V40 was from over the border and had a lot of history from there.

2003 2.0T GT Coupe is group 10 according to my insurance contact and the Cabriolet is is group 11. for the record, here are the other model insurance groupings (based on Aviva underwriting):

2.4 20v (170bhp) 10 for coupe and 11 for cab
2.4 20v LPT is amazingly rated at 10 for the coupe and 13 for the cab
2.3 T5 coupes are group 13
2.3 T5 Cabs - are group 15 for the regular models and group 16 for the GT models

try Aviva for your renewal - your car is rated group 11 on their underwriting terms

As far as I'm aware only the earlier ones, up to 2002 and maybe early '03 - that's on the P2 cars (S60/V70/S80) though and the C70 is based off an earlier platform, 850/S70 I think, so has the potential of being different but I can't see why.

Tell-tale signs are the idle being anything but completely rock-solid. The rev counter needle should be completely stable until you touch the throttle.
