First off, you won't get 304bhp. The map is called a 304 but is likely to yield 270ish in the real world.

I'm not putting you off, I have a 304 map and it's good fun smile

If you are concerned about returning to standard you might consider an MTE map from Don @ Kamar Union, I *think* the MTE stuff can be loaded onto your ecu and then removed purely electronically wheras the Rica stuff requires the ecu to be opened up and a chip replaced.

If you do need a spare ecu then shop around and be patient. I recently secured a standard spare for mine for just under £50, but have been quoted as much as £110 in the past couple of months.

You might also consider this: http://www.hlmtuning.co.uk/offers.html but do your homework wink

Hello Garry Weedon,

THE place to get up to speed on things is www.t5d5.org where the most active and informed maybe opinionated owners/tuners of late model Volvos hang out.

You can catch me on 020 8959 3230.

I charge £285 to install MTE software which I do by attaching your ECU, removed from your car and unopened to my MTE uploader kit. If you cannot make the trip to north London, evenings and weekends are OK, then you would need to post the ECU to me.

Best regards, Don.Norchi.

My friend does them for me on the Auto ECU's - I paid him £50 to cover the cost fo the programmable chip on mine. With regards to swapping the ECU's over I do on mine all the time, I run a 304bhp software on an auto ECU and swap back to my manual standard 225map, takes merely a couple of minutes and an allen key open the box. Just make sure the car has been left switched off for a good 10 minutes before swapping. One other think to bear in mind is, make sure you run standard actuator pressure as swapping them around can sometimes cause the boost safety cut to come in on the tuned ECU with a "turned up" turbo on full throttle etc - I found this on mine after running the standard map on slightly higher boost, adjusting back to standard cured the problem.

ello Garry,

The MTE outputs for their basic map for the V70R with manual throttle are:

Manual transmission 285bhp and 430nm. of torque.

Auto, 270bhp with 405nm.

The Auto version of this car was a bit of a snare in that it had in fact the exact engine found in the concurrent T5's with the smaller Mitsubishi 16T turbo rather than the 18T in the manual 'R' cars.

The run out, post '98 cars with the electronic throttle and Bosch ME7 ECU have different mapping from MTE that costs £435 to install but can be offered at extra cost with their very sophisticated Softloader system that will carry their optional comprehensive data logging and full diagnostics software packages. Details of that system are most comprehesively found on the website of their US distributor www.ipdusa.com

Regards, Don.
