My dog-gate is squeaking

I have a 2006 Volvo XC70 and the dog gate is squeaking and driving me nuts. I have tried a bit of WD40 but that hasnt stopped it. It doesnt really squeak when raised, only when down. Any suggestions gratefully received. Thank you for saving my sanity.

where is it squeaking from? Is it rubbing on the seat backs or does the fixing need tightening?
