After a longer than expected build, I finally managed to finish this kit. I don't think I've built a kit with so many parts, particularly photo etched. Anyway I'm pleased with the results. It's the Dragon 1/350 kit with White Ensign Models etch set. I replaced the stand uprights which really weren't up to the job, by printing some new ones on the works 3D printer.

I'll be there. I'd love to see the Scharnhorst. I still remember Ludo Kennedy's TV documentary, "The Life and Death of the Scharnhorst".

Thanks. I used stretched sprue and some very fine copper wire.

How do you get that amount of sprue to be a consistent thickness?

Practice. I wait till the sprue is really soft, then, in one pull, stretch it out to the length of both arms. This gives you a pretty much a consistant thickness over about 4ft of a 5ft length.

I have to say, I have never seen such a huge variety of models at a club meeting. The weirdest had to be the 1/6 scale Saxaphone.

I really liked the three ladies (Army, Wren and WAAF) on the way to the NAAFI.

Plastic modelling isn't just about aeroplanes and tanks.

I agree, the variety was excellent as was the quality of the models on display. I too liked the walk to the NAAFI and the radar set.

The personal touch of the German sentry standing outside having a smoke made that radar model - apart from the model of the radar set itself.
