Before Dr_gn has a go at me for not doing a WIP, this was just a quick build with no thrills or AM, just to stop getting completely cross-eyed with etch.

Revell 1/35 M47 Patton tank in Croatian Army colours from the Balkans War.

Excellent airbrush skill, looks fantastic.

Strange how photo-etch becomes a necessity once you've used it once!

Looks great - although I never know what I'm looking at when it comes to AFVs.

Tell-tale for the M47 is the bizarre little jockey wheel at the back, which is absent from the smaller but similar M41 and lookalike Japanese Type 61.

Interesting that I hardly ever see Japanese tanks on display at club meetings or model shows. They are mostly German, British, American and Israeli. On the odd occasion you migbht see a French or Italian one.

There haven't been very many - only three designs of significance since 1945 and, because of the nature of the Pacific theatre, only a couple before that.

The wartime efforts are by-and-large rather odd-looking, and I'd guess that the relative lack of exposure of the postwar vehicles means they're not viewed as especially marketable subjects by the kit manufacturers - I think even Tamiya have only ever turned out a total of four kits in 1/35.
