Card Model Ships

Anyone got experience of building these? Going on a trip to Hamburg soon, and I'm going to call in at the Maritime museum. I almost bought a card kit from the shop last time, but decided against it. They can look incredible when finished, but how much skill and practice do you need to make a good job of an intricate card model of say the Bismark? I've been making some card buildings with my son recently (for a model railway) and they look good. Just fancied something more intricate.

If you don't go for the ships there are plenty of free models that you can print off the net at home to make up- some of them are fairly complex.
