I know some of you chaps on here use various paints, some of which include Citadel paints.

Just thought I'd warn you to say that the whole paint range is being re-done very shortly. As i understand it most paints will be staying but under different names, the range will also be expanding.

There will be more foundation paints (now called base) including a much wanted white, metallics will also grow in number as far as i can see, there will also be a change to the washes now called shade (different names/added colours) as well as new glazes, dry? texture and technical.

Here is a leak of the changes:

So if you've got a particular requirement for a current citadel paint i believe this weekend is potentially the last to get them direct from GW (other retailers may vary).

Old to new conversion chart:

but it seems as if the paints are made by a different supplier and of a different consistency, so if that matters to you, buy the old ones!

There are very similar metallics (infact the range has increased).

I tried a few out today in GW and the quality is still very good. The base colours cover very well and aren't as thick as the original foundation paints. Most of the old colours have very similar counterparts as per the conversion chart above.

The old ones were made by the group that owns Windsor and Newton.

This is a real attempt to try and fight back against the other paint mfrs having much more interesting ranges.
Vallejo in particular.
