Just finished a nice £5 bargain from a charity shop.
Lovely usual Tamiya fit (first time the body has just dropped onto the chassis rather than needing a stretch).
Has definitely boosted my interest in doing more racing cars.

That looks excellent. Top job.

Is it Sonic Blue mica paint?

I have a real one without the rally stuff and different colour. The model looks really good, everything looks just about right. Superb job.

Cheers guys.
Nismo, it is actually Citadel Enchanting Blue. It was easier to spray than trying to decant Mica Blue (last time I did that it gunked up all my airbrush).

That looks fantastic, I'm just about to start a 911, first model I've built in a long long time. Have you put anything over the top of the decals to protect them? I've heard mention of using something, but I can't remember what it was, it wasn't a model specific item, I'm sure it came from Tesco or the like.

This is the stuff you'll have heard of, it's floor wax that acts the same as a 2k clear coat or varnish because that's exactly what it is. It's also good for protecting clear parts like windows and light lenses, you just dip them in it and leave to dry.

Nice work on the scooby Jackal, the decals look really good.

Yep do all your painting first, then dip all the glass in Future/Klear and spray the body with it too. This seals everything and makes the decals lay down with less chance of "silvering" (air trapped under the decal).
Then after applying the decals with a bit of Microset to help them conform to the shape of the body, spray a few more coat of Klear to seal everything in. For a more glossy finish apply more coats by brush. Klear self settles and dries to a brilliant finish.

I was under the impression that this version of Klear didn't work, since they changed the recipe?

Fantastic, thanks for the info, I'll get some of that then. Did you spray it with an airbrush? Would it be alright by hand brush? I haven't progressed onto airbrushes yet!

That one in the link is fine too. It is cloudy but dries clear. The guy on the FloryModels (ProModellers) site uses it on all his models now.
For pre and post decals I usually spray it. Its not totally glossy but does the job for laying decals on. Then if I want a proper glossy coat I do a few coats with a big soft brush, like on my Red Arrows Gnat

The gloss on that is pretty impressive. I hope mine comes out somewhere remotely close to the standard shown on these threads, no doubt I'll be disappointed, but I'll enjoy it none the less.
Cheers for the tips.

My younger brother did that exact model when he was about 9 or 10, needless to say it didn't come out anything like that! Not bad from a distance though!
