Picked up an optima for £30 yesterday, bargin me thinks, I think it's the first one.
Need to get a body shell sorted, maybe some wheels as well.
Where they 2 or 2.2 wheels/tyres, I suspect they were a bit early for 2.2?

Still got my turbo optima, it's in the middle of a bit of restoration at the moment.
Wheels were 2.0" on the turbo and pro models, but I think the five spokes on the original car were smaller still, easy enough to get 2.2 wheels that fit if you want.

Yes I think your right about the spoke wheels, on closer inspection it's on very good condition, silver shocks which I think we're an upgrade, want to get it looking original if I can, but not spending loads on wheels and tyres, I have some mid wheels which will do if not

Doesn't sound like it's got kyosho shocks then, the standard ones were red and the option house upgrade shocks were gold, perhaps they are brimod or cat shocks.

Defiantly not Schumacher shocks, never heard of the other ones, didn't kyosho do a titanium upgrade?

Ahh I forgot about the platinum shocks, don't think i ever saw a set on a car. If they're the ones i'm thinking of you can adjust the damping by turning the bottom or the shock shaft somehow.

Where the hell did you get an optima for that price? Is it the original or the mid? I raced an optima mid turbo in the mid 80s and although I went on to race CATs for the next 10-15 years I still think it was the best car I've had!! So smooth and quick!!
