Need a really good quality white gloss paint

for touching up a carbon fibre bike frame, any ideas?

White is not white is not white, unfortunately. My first port of call would be the original painter to see if they can advise of the paint they used. You will notice the touch up if the shade is slightly out.

i appreciate white is very tough to get a close match but its a fairly inocuous area on the chainstay hidden by the chainset so I am more concerned about covering the carbon fibre and not an exact match. so which paints do you all use out of choice? Humbrol? Tamiya?....

I would match the original colour and paint. On a frame with generally curved surfaces should be almost indistinguishable. You may get reaction with other paints and carbon fibre may require specific coatings. Worth the effort IMO.

Take the bike to Halfords and check their range of aerosol whites.

I bet they stock over a dozen and you may well be able to work out a suitable paint.

A clue for colour guessing, most Ford Mondeos of the eighties and nineties were a variation on Diamond White, RoverBMC whites were often more creamy.

Their colour man might be able to help (if the wind is from the east and you turn widdershins six times while he looks at the computer) too

A bike? I certainly would not use model paint on it, Halfords, Holts or several other suppliers make decent car body paint. You can even buy it at your local car spares guy. It could even come from HomebaseandQitall. I think they've a large range of Duplicolour there
