My Project Car [Nitro RC Content]

So my chum gave me a holdall full of a load of Nitro RC gear he's bored of. They are now my project. I know nothing at all about RC other than the out-of-the-box electric kit I had as a kid, so this will be a learning experience for me.

Ah, a full chassis with all sorts of stuff! Mostly complete, but needs a strip down and a clean.


Shouldn't there be a pull start here?


The one on the right is awesome.

Hopefully by making a thread I can motivate myself to fix the proper chassis up and get her running

Couple of Kyoshos by the look of them.

I've got one of the second ones in my shed - must dig it out and see if it runs.

Mine came with a Supra shell, which I've still got - can't for the life of me think of the model number.

Your one doesn't look too bad - as you say needs a strip down ,clean and rebuild.

They look pretty cool. I love onroad rc cars, always fun seeing how fast you can make them go before they flip over.
Your ones look RWD so I'm sure you will have a great time just trying to drive them in a straight line.

Yup, looks like the pull start is missing. Before buying another one though, it way be worth looking at other ways to start it - Starter Box etc. Pull starts are a pain in the arse!

The second one (with all it's wheels on) is a belt driven 4WD, and drifts really well

Did a bit of fiddling yesterday and only succeeded in pulled the draw hose out of the bottom of the fuel tank, spilling skanky old nitro all over the place.

I had already bought a pull start on the cheap on ebay, but it's the wrong one Never mind. Would you get enough RPM out of, say, a cordless drill to start one of these? I could fabricate something pretty easily to do that.

I've also come to the conclusion that I need a new set of tiny tools to work on the chassis. Some of the nuts/bolts are TINY.

Yes - I used to have a Schumacher XTR which was started with a Cordless Drill - used a rounded allen head.

Starter Boxes are excellent though but depends if the chassis will fit on one.
