So, my missus has only gone and bought me this kit, http://www.wonderlandmodels.com/products/revell-13... clearly me cooing over it in the shop then sighing that I couldn't afford it must have subconsciously made her want to cheer me up with it!

I've looked online and seen some cracking finished kits, and I just hope I can get half as good as what some can. http://tedtaylor.hobbyvista.com/144-arado-196/page...

Will attempt to keep a running update on here of it, although I'm already off to a bad start when I opened my little tool box of paints etc to find my tin of spirits had leaked all over and softened the plastic bottom and warped it. Everything stunk of the stuff too.

I built the Airfix 1/72 version last year. Is yours the 1/32 model or the 1/72 Revell kit?

It's the 1:32 kit.

It was the detailing that I was most taken by, lots of struts and bracing wires, I like that kind of detail!

You certainly an get impressive results in the larger scales. I tend to stick to 1/72 for space reasons.

Revell recently re-released their 1/72 196 as well. It is actually the old Heller kit and it considered to be better than the Airfix one.

I know what you mean about the size implications, I don't really have anywhere to put it once its finished, but I'm glad it comes with a stand to put it on.

As I said to my missus, once the kits are finished they just become dust magnets. The fun for me is building and painting them, once that's done they just take up space.

I may have to get a display case for this one though if it comes out good enough, I suppose I should keep it as it was a present! I'm very tempted to build it with the wings in the folded position. It'll look a bit different and mean I can put it in a smaller case!
