Finally took the plunge and bought a kit car. The Lego Technic sports (£70 from Amazon) is quite a challenge for me and my 11 year old son. Here we go...

Box arrived 2 days after order

3 Manuals just for the one car - over 230 pages!

Start with the gearbox.

Gearbox on half the chassis, and the rest of the bits laid out

Rear axle assembly, I finally understand how a differential works smile

End of book 1, 2 more books to go.

My girlfriend got me this kit for my birthday, it's brilliant.

Download the other instructions for the hot rod from here after you're done with the supercar:

Currently in prices on the dining room table I have the excavator - its big!, the Unimog - even bigger & the flatbed lorry!!!

On the window sill, built, I have the Supercar, the tractor & trailer unit, the bucket truck & a Ferrari F1 car!!!

Want the camper van for my birthday next week, R2D2 for Christmas & i read in Top Gear magazine earlier today that Lego are shortly to release the Land Rover that was originally built as a one off (for his own amusement apparently) by some random Spanish bloke.

It appears that Lego liked the YouTube footage of the Landie so much that they bought the rights off the Spanish guy & they are doing it themselves - complete with independent working suspension!!

Lego Technic - its awesome & I'm 54 next week!!!

It doesn't say & Lego appear to be avoiding confirming the release date - I'm guessing maybe before Christmas this year but who knows?

Depends I would think upon Lego getting it exactly right before it goes on sale. The photo in TG looked pretty damn good - I don't know Landies at all however so I don't know the exact model it's based on - but the model had a cab & a flatbed behind the cab.

Should be stunning when it gets released. I wonder if they might think of putting some sort of motor into it like the new 4 x 4 crawler. That would be awesome.

It isn't actually a gearbox on the transmission, it controls what the motor does e.g. opens the doors, the bonnet or the spoiler.

I've got the bug big time now. Built the yellow flatbed truck first, decided I wanted more so bought the black recovery truck, that was over far too quickly and didn't scratch my lego itch sufficiently so the unimog was purchased. Absolutely awesome stuff. Don't know what to go for next.
