Scale Model World 2012
Discussion
Just a reminder - the big model show of the year is on this weekend at the International Centre.
I'l be there for the entire weekend with the Farnborough IPMS contingent. If anyone wants to pop by to say hello - please do so - although I may be awanderin' around the halls.
This year's show promises to be the biggest and best - with a 1/1 scale Royal Navy Lynx flying in for display in one of the halls.

I'm hoping to go on Sunday. Ordered some stuff from Hannants for collection at the show (10% off and obviously no postage to pay).I'l be there for the entire weekend with the Farnborough IPMS contingent. Fascinating website turned up at the bottom of the page.

There's always a few but they are outnumbered by about 100 to 1.
There'a girl who actually runs the flying boat and seaplane Special Interest Group. She builds some nice models.
A couple of years ago, the top model in the competition was made by a lady. It was a bust (phar phar) of the Egyptian Queen Nefertari.

IPMS Birmingham stand?
I'll drop by at some point. The trouble is that there is so much to see that I spend a huge amount of the time wandering about the place (spending money).

Yes I will be on the Birmingham stand, might also manage to help out if the committee need dumb volunteers.
I'm hoping to give the old narrow boat model an outing for the first time in thirty years, plus one or two others
It's all quite hectic isn't it?
naughty naughty dg
I feel that way ish but mine were beaten by much better models
Now
Did any of you actually go?
Eric is a case in point
I went 'Ericcing' about thirty times over both days (I was there from eight o'clockish each day helping with the club stand) Not a trace

anyway
back on track
Steam Punk? Whoda thunk it?
I liked it though

Some of my favourites
This I enjoyed, in a 'how the hell?' kinda way

This one did deserve best choppacopter

Funnily, my camera didn't do very much work this year, too much choice but a favourite of mine got corrupted at thumbsnap
one from a friend of mine just to round up.

I'm sure there will be a lot of competition entrants going home fuming about the results: Many awards were given to models that were an absolute joke (literally in one case), while other fine examples were left out completely. What a shambles.
My 1/32 Spitfire was in the competition and although i didn't think it would stand a chance, i thought it would be fun to enter anyway. I did notice that there were some odd choices made but ho hum.
Matt Irvine was supposidly a senior judge so looking at some of the BBC models its no wonder.
