Once they're built
Discussion
What do you do with your model kits
I used to build loads as a kid back in the 60's they are all long gone. I built a Niki Lauda Ferrari back in the 70's or 80's - it died when hit by a roll of wallpaper,a Fogarty Ducati in the 90's - currently lying in bits after two house moves and a series of miss handles. I have a few bburago type cars on a window ledge in the spare room but wouldn't know what to do with any more models I built as SWMBO would probably show a dislike to something which collects dust (until she dusted it too hard),or the dog or 7yo son got a hold on it.
Would like to build something else but what then.
Back as a wee lad an uncle gave me a model Ariel bike, loved the model and was amazed he gave it away after building it. Know why now.

Mine become dust magnets once they're complete.
I assume most will agree that the 'fun' is in the construction phase; once they're built they just sit on the side gathering dust and slowly having little bits knocked off. I have an Arado 196 seaplane in the living room which is getting a layer of dust building up, I'll keep it for a few more months but when I move house it'll be going in the bin. A sad end to a nice kit but its just clutter now.
As a kid I'd hang my Airfix models on the ceiling, and I had a 1/35 diarama that I'd change every now and then, but those were the days when all you had in your room was bed, toys and clothes.

What a good idea.
A bit like those people who leave books on park benches etc once they've finished reading them.
Or you could fill them with matches and set fire to them as we did as kids. Nothing like filling a German Battle Cruiser's hull full of Swan Vestas and floating it on an oil drum full of water down the allotments before dousing it in lighter fluid and setting it ablaze.
