Lego tilt rotor
Discussion
I accept that my lego building skills are not awesome, but I decided to have an attempt at building a Lego tilt rotor. Not a V22 clone, but my own interpretation.
So, my first attempt was more of an idea of what I might be able to do as I don't have a bottomless pit of lego. Also, I decided to stay away from Technic as I have none and I would kill myself making it look like a V22 but not like a V22.
So, first shot to give me an idea of what I might be able to achieve:

Which I wasn't even remotely happy with, not by a long shot but the seeds of a challenge were planted.
The next attempt was better:

Which I still didn't like so I took it to bits and thought of something bigger and better, like my Chinook. So here is the next incarnation:

Which was still iffy and lacked an on-ramp and, frankly, a back. Which led to this:

The only part I've been happy with really was the rotating nacelles. But I hated the cockpit so decided another rebuild was required.

I was happier with the cockpit, but I didn't like that nose. Which led me to this:

Which also gave me a solid side which I will modify later with side access panels. Or guns. Not sure which yet.
The final (for now) version is this:

I have a big ish box, but mostly of Lego city and colour matching is driving me mad. I'm not happy with the size of the rotors either, but I don't have any longer 1x pieces. Sorry to bore you all, but my girlfriend has spent most of the weekend rolling her eyes, my 5 year old daughter keeps wanting to "help" (but she doesn't build properly
) and my 18 month old son has been helping dig through the box (why are all the best bits at the bottom?)
Next plans - a side access door, build a cockpit, armaments, replace the refuelling drogue, lighting, interior seating and I may try retractable landing gear but I don't think it's big enough for that.

I like the second version a lot, the rest...not so much
It would make a great Technic project...
The multi coloured one?

Widening it is a nice idea - not sure I have the wide base plates for it. Might have a go....
Love that photo above too

The V-22's are in fact very small and cramped inside, here are some pics I took last year:
Other tilt-rotors are out there, this is the Bell Agusta BA609:
And here's another variation on the theme, the Vought XC142:
