After learning how better to photograph smaller items, I retook some of the collection. Older photos are beneath.

They're all 1/32nd, Airfix soldiers standards.

Photography: Believe it all not, they're all perched on a flat toilet seat. The two windows in my bathroom mean two light sources from
different angles which helps. A low shutter speed and high F number means there's little depth-of-field blurring, but this does mean exposure
times of about 1-2 seconds, so a tripod is essential. Camera is a Nikon D90.

I had the rather obscure Matchbox "Counter Attack" set which contained some of those types of soldiers. It also had pneumatic machine guns and mortars, and a spring loaded mine. When combined with demolishable buildings and a watch tower in was great fun.

The also did one called "Rocket Attack" IIRC, which was based upon a V1 launch site.

You 'was' obviously posh!

I had knackered soldiers and we flicked marbles, tiddly-winks or anything that we could find to play 'war'

Pneumatic machine gun........naaah, we just shouted from behind a cheap plastic figure.......daga daga daga you're dead take your shots!

This takes me back, these look really good. I always wanted the 1/32 figures but never made it past the 1/76 sets. That said I did have some good times as the Commandos and the Romans defended the wagon train from the Afrika Korps and the Confederate artillery.

Do you keep the figures boxed or display them?

I could never get the paint to stay on the (polypropylene?) 'soft' plastic figures, so I was chuffed when Airfix started to making the kits of poseable ones, although I struggled to make the plasticard straps look natural.

A Dinky S.H.A.D.O. mobile and Saladin armoured car were our weapons of choice - the latter fired the plastic mushroom pegs from a Mastermind game and was very effective out to about twelve feet...

They were on display but I've only a limited amount of display space and right now it's being used for 1/24 car model kits I've built instead, so they live in a box in the wardrobe.

Nice work OP. Being a wargamer I have armies of painted figures but mainly 28mm (1/56), eg German MG42 team, figures from Bolt Action
