Thinking ahead I'm going climbing the walls over Xmas (rubbish tv and most of the family do my head in)

So thought about getting a plastic kit to pass the time.

I've Never built one before so have a few questions.

Are they any good ?
How long do they take to build ( just a idea is fine )
Do you have to paint them ?

Thanks

I think they vary. I bought a Celica GT-Four one which comprised of about 15 pieces and I could have got away without painting. I then bought an Evo 6 one and it has about 99 bits and will most definitely need painting (even down to the seats).

The quality for me is very good.

Great quality kits.

Yes you have to paint them for them to look good.

For a 1:20 or 1:24 car, I'd say a minimum build time would be a weekend if you limited yourself to the absolute bare essentials of painting (ie spraying the body). Obviously you wouldn't end up with a museum piece under those circumstances.

I mostly build their tank kits, and all of the ones I've done have been great at 1:35 scale. I've got a couple of 1:48 aircraft, but haven't started them yet!

Tamiya kits are generally excellent. But maybe a bit fiddly for a first time builder.

Built a few. I have the Castrol JGTC Supra as a WIP at the moment.

Very good kits.

Go for a tank. Easier to build and mistakes can be covered with weathering and mud.
Remember how good a kit will look is down to how much care you put into building it. These arent snap together kits.

I went tot the AutoSport show and bought myself a 1/24 67 Mini MonteCarlo and the level of detail is insane. I've waited a week for all the bits to arrive ( glue, paint, tools, cutting matt ). Yeah , I went mad and bought loads. I really want to do it properly from the start and see how good I can get it as I used to paint warhammer in my early teens so hope I have an ok start.

The kit was £15 and I can't see how it cold be any better for even twice that price. I'll do a build log and put it on this forum I think!
