Nitro rc starter box?
Discussion
As I started another thread about having a hard to start rc car and got it going after trying some of the techniques you gave me plus much swaring and actually getting it going a few times I have decided to try a starter box.

Are these the best way to go and if so what one?
Also what do they run off. I have seen on youtube someone using a car battery or can normal rechargeable batteries be used?
Sorry for all the questions

My advice, spend that little bit extra and get the best there is.
SMD Evo 2 can be had for £60 delivered from BMM racing, and probably others. You can use a 12v battery or a 3s or 4s Lipo.
For the 12v most folk use a motorbike battery, the box comes with a strap for one.
Lipo's are lighter, but you obviously need a lipo charger.

As has been said,,buy the best you can afford, and make sure it is from a company that holds spares, especially of the rubber starting wheel as they do wear out, as do the belts on the gear system.
I have had this for probably 20 years, it's always worked fine, and starts both my 1/8' scale off road buggys and 1/10 scale of road if too.

Make sure you get a unit that can do north south and east west wheel config for the starting wheel, then you are covered for most car models out there!
