What in your humble collective opinions are the best kits by manufacturer and scale?

For plastic kits, these are all worth a look:

Wingnut Wings 1:32 (WW1 only)

Tamiya 1:48 & 1:32

Hasegawa 1:48 & 1:32

Zoukei-Mura 1:32

HK Models 1:32

Trumpeter 1:24

For metal kits:

IMCTH for 1:32 (just two kits, but fantastic).

In my experience, Tamiya all the way for consistent high quality and value for money.

I have the Tamiya 1:32 Spitfire and Mustang kits - both deeply impressive and the pinnacle of plastic kit design, I think.

hmmm interesting question . . . my field of interest is WW2 so I'll stick with that period as I'm more familiar with the models.

1/24- the forthcoming Airfix Typhoon Ib (I know I'm not impartial here but it is genuinely stunning)

1/32- Tamiya spitfire IX, Mustang and Corsair, gorgeous kits. Honorable mention to the Revell Arado Ar196 for being a lovely model and stonking value for money. The Hasegawa P47 thunderbolt is really nice too.

1/48- Eduard Spitfire IX is lovely. Tamiya Skyraider, Swordfish, P47, Sturmovik also very nice.

Wingnut Wings kits are just amazing- the whole package just oozes class. shame I have no real interest in the subject matter though!

Another vote for the 1/48 Eduard Spitfire MkIX here and just as good are the Zvezda Bf109F kits, for me both took the fight back to Japan on accuracy, fit and importantly, cost.
