Hi,

I have recently taken up the hobby of competitive Slot car racing. I race twice a week at the Phoenix Scalextric club. http://www.phoenixscalextriccircuit.com/

I thought you may be interested in the cars and classes that I race in.
Car tuning and modification is encouraged.

We have several Magnetic car classes.
Minis
Stock motor, wheels and tyres must not require shell modification, but most other mods are allowed.
Both have trued sport tyres on glued and trued wheels. The yellow one is geared for better acceleration, with less magnetic effect, the red one has more magnets.

Lightweights
Stock motors, pretty much open otherwise.

Both run trued wheels and tyres, with lower gearing. This along with the mini class are ideal starter classes and indeed run with the kids series too.

Super GT
This is a totally open class, any motor any magnet, My cars are very much in development, as this is an expensive class to really compete in. These cars can be from any slot car company, not just scalextric, unlike the other two classes

The lolas are very fast as stock, but once up engined with upgraded running gear they can fly. The trick is getting the balance of magnetic grip vs speed.

We also race non magentic cars, which are my favorites.
First is Rally

The Impreza is an Avant one, with an inline engine conversion, drop arm guide lower gearing, an NSR Evo 3 21.4k rpm motor, and NSR Air sytem rear wheels and tyres along with super low profile front low grip tyres. runing reduced ride height.
The Celica is a pretty much stock Team slot car, without 4wd and running NSR rubber and a sprung guide
The Scooby is my main car, with the Celica a back up for the night.
The class runs to a strict cap on engine speed, 21.5k and cars must have inline motors. Plus no magents
The GT3 class is much the same in terms of regs, but you can use anglewinder or sidewinder motor positions.

The yellow and green 911 is an NSR, runing an anglewinder 21.4k king 4 motor, with lots of torque, wide rear air system wheels and tyres, no magnet and set as low as possible.
The Technically speaking GT2 loony 911 is from Pro Slot, with a 21k pro slot motor, sidewinder gear, large rear wheels and is the back up car.
By the way I try to race as many yellow cars as they are easy to see out on track.

Touring runs to the same rules, but must feature touring cars.

Both are Spirit 406 Touring cars, with anglewinder configurations, and 20k boxer engines.
The white car is the T car and runs a stock spec, while the main yellow car, runs all metal slot it gears, slot It P4 rear tyres and a deep guide.

Classics is the most fun class in my opinion, with cars that are very tricky to drive and set up.
I have 3 at present. The rules do not allow wide rubber, so the tyres are narrow, the motors are 20k limited and cars have to be defined as classic

The E type is an SCX, running smaller scalextric super slix tyres, I hope to upgrade the stock scx motor as its a little slow, but handles really well
The MGB is a scalextric, with the E type rear wheels, with glued and streched small super slix tyres, lighting and chip prep kit look removed, with a 8 tooth sport pinion for its small stock FF motor
The 260Z runs a sport 20k motor with again glued and trued small slick tyres, I ned to modify the guide pick up mount to lower the car, to stop the de slotting its prone too.

Finally we have GT1
This for the non mag cars is as fast as it gets, unlimited spec motors etc.
My Avant Porsche is stock at present, with a metal mount, 27k motor and all metal gear etc.
It needs wider rear rubber, but its a good starting point.

I have a fair few others, I hope you dont mind my sharing.
I am still a novice at this, but its blooming great fun.
