HI Folks

First post here. I am a car nut and have been meaning to join for ages, but I now have an excuse!

I have checked with Haymarket and they have approved the slightly "adverty" nature of this post. It is relevant to this forum.

I am a big SR71 fan and a Lego fanatic. I wanted to build one, but no kit existed and I had to design it myself and buy all the parts. - so I thought I'd buy enough for 10! I am selling one of the kits on ebay - all the parts, boxed and build instructions.

This IS NOT AN OFFICIAL LEGO PRODUCT - but it does contain 100% genuine Lego bricks

You should pitch that to lego themselves - it's sensational!

Love the "donuts on a rope" engine trails.

Thanks Rsoovy

Not many people know, but Lego was founded by a pacifist - so they don't do military - despite the fact that the first thing every boy build's in an intergalactic planet melter with a brain-liquifying death ray!

Oh - I forgot to say - any comments/advice welcome. Know any other good places to post it? - I've done most of the UK aviation forums.

It's a bloody advert there's nothing slightly about it!

Well yes I suppose it is an advert, but I am an enthusiast, selling to enthusiasts, I checked it with Haymarket before I posted, got it OK'd, and only posted in the relevant forums. I am a small guy with a shed, I am not trying to sell blue pills or a scam. If I'm lucky, after I've divided my profits by the hours I've poured into this, I might clear 30p an hour!!

Yes, I mean they do castles and star wars with guns etc and have just released a Sopwith Camel, So I guess its just military of the present they wont touch. - Maybe I'll pitch it to them in 30 yrs :-D

It does, however, leave an opening for Mega Blocks et al.

Very true - but they did recently do a Sopwith Camel, so you never know!

I love your kit. Shame I haven't got enough spare pennies to bid on it frown

EDIT: Just spotted your later post in which you mention it yourself. That'll teach me to get over-excited and post before finishing reading the thread! biggrin

2 weeks late for my son's birthday. And I spent hours thinking what I could get him.

But it's my birthday in a month... might have to send an anonymous link to my wife tongue out

Great job nevertheless

Thanks Lurking Lawyer and thanks AlexIT - your encouragement means a lot! - While I have always looked at it and thought - "Yup I'd buy one of them", others who I have told have thought I was mad! - many still do! Sorry I missed you lads B'day, I'd really like these to go to people who would really appreciate them.

Random SR71 factoid for those who are interested.....

It still holds the record time from New York to London -1 hour 54 minutes, that is 58 minutes faster than the fastest Concorde flight. To give you an idea of just how fast it was, that time included the time it took to slow down half way, refuel, and then get back up to speed again

I'd get this on http://lego.cuusoo.com/ as I could see this doing well there and going into production, after all the SR71 wasn't a war bird as much as an intel gatherer.
