I saw his item on BM
From that I'd say your wow was justified
and I'd see your wow and raise you a "ffffffffflippin' heck it's gorgeous"

If you order it on the eHattons website it's only £80! roll on June is all I can say.....From that I'd say your wow was justified
and I'd see your wow and raise you a "ffffffffflippin' heck it's gorgeous"

But i'm sure someone somewhere sometime will find a rivet that's a scale inch out of place......

I love the oil canning and lapped fuselage joints, they've really moved their quality on haven't they?
If you follow the link it tells you that it is the preproduction build for next month's (this Thursday) edition of Airfix Modelworld magazine, then to Airfix for display at their offices.
I can advise looking at the BM item, I can guarantee that I am getting the mag
It is a great piece of moulding and a fine example of modelling.

If the production moulds come out this well I suspect there will be frantic catch ups being played all across the hobby.
Superb model, I WILL be requiring this as a Christmas pressie.
From various unaware relatives I hope.
the AMW model was built from almost-finished test shots, there were just a few little niggles to fix. Production mouldings will come out of exactly the same moulds. The kit will contain all the bits needed to make early and late Typhoons- with rockets, bombs, choice of tailplanes, 3 and 4 blade props, choice of wing lights etc. 500+ parts IIRC. The engine has been made to fit an electric motor inside too to turn the prop if you're that way inclined.Superb model, I WILL be requiring this as a Christmas pressie.

And pass on my amazement to all in the design team!!
Airfix don't continually produce kits from any given mould. They produce the kits in production runs and then withdraw them for a while.
If a kit isn't being produced at the moment, it will more than likely reappear within a couple of years.
Most of the big kit manufacturers work this way.

Some take longer to come back than others.
The 1/48 Lightning was absent for a long time too but it was re-released quite recently in conjunction with Eduard.
The 1/72 TSR2 (which is not the best but is the only injection moulded YSR2 in 1/72) has been re-released but in an odd Japanese Manga style set of markings.

That looks a fantastic kit, I wish I had the skills to paint one.
Is the Airfix 1/24 Mosquito already out of production?
The big mozzie was in 3 catalogues and we did 3 production batches which all sold- much more than was originally anticipated, but demand does eventually slow down. It's being rested this year to make shelf space for the typhoon, but will be coming back, probably with new decals- "watch this space" so to speak. Is the Airfix 1/24 Mosquito already out of production?
The 1/48 bucc was last released in about 2008, certainly I have seen boxes at work with the Margate address on.
Most kits come in and out of the range, only a few, e.g. 1/72 Lancaster, spitfire mk1, S+R Sea King etc. stay in permanently due to continued retail demand. We have all the old moulds apart from the wellington, B-17 and SAM2 missile launcher, and are gradually working our way through re-releasing them.

Any chance of a release of a Handley Page Victor to go with the other V-Bombers Airfix do? The 1/48 bucc was last released in about 2008, certainly I have seen boxes at work with the Margate address on.

With some new wings and modified fuselage, might a Tempest ultimately be possible?Yertis said:

It would be nice if things worked that way
On a tempest, the longer nose would mean the internal framework would need to be modified, the propeller is a bigger diameter, the undercarriage was redesigned, fuel tanks were relocated, the internal structure of the wing is very different so all the spar and gun bay parts would have to be changed . . . I'd be suprized if any of the Typhoon parts would actually be able to be used on a Tempest!
