Is it just me or does anyone else think that de-masking is like unwrapping Christmas presents?

I'm really pleased with how well this one has turned out so far biggrin

Hopefully I'll have time to start applying decals tomorrow evening although I'm expecting new HT leads to arrive for the Cerbera so will likely end up fitting those instead. All good though smile

Yep - the best part of modelling! Possibly only bettered by applying RAF decals to an early Spitfire...to me that particular transformation brings back happy memories of building models with my dad.

Looks great BTW.

Enjoyable - but sometimes a bit nerve wracking.

Ha. Me too! They were always rubbish but I was always delighted. I have fond memories of building a Matchbox Mk.IX Spit with my grandfather at his house in Perth after he bought it for me at Leuchars airshow too. My earliest modelling memory is of a Vampire, painted in Humbrol 11 overall with Humbrol 30 for the fins and rudders, all done badly with a brush of course. The tins were labelled as 'enamel'. That smell of glue and paint smile

agreed. De-masking canopies was always a blast for me as well, peeling the tape away to get a nice razor sharp canopy frame.

Lovely looking Spit btw.

I hope it was always Britfix glue?

The best pair of decals in the world!

(If a bit wrinkly with Microsol!)

I'll get the rest on tonight I hope. I spent most of yesterday evening on the Cerbera. As with most 4.5 Cerb jobs, you dismantle the air intake system to get to anything and found a crack in one of the exhaust manifolds so welded that up. As a result I had minimal time. For decals. I prefer to have something dry I can touch whilst concentrating on other bits. I can hold it by the wing tips to do the fuselage now smile

Coming along really nice. You can't beat a MkI spit.

Excellent work. You also have good taste in your choice of Squadron codes hehe Mine was the Tamiya 1:72 version. Presumably you've also used Xtradecals on yours?

When I was 8, I harboured dreams of recreating Bader's "big wing" on my bedroom ceiling. My parents were somewhat less enthusiastic.

Lovely dr-gn biggrin It was indeed from an Xtradecal set. I just went looking on Hannants for a Mk1 with a black spinner, sky undersides, roundels underneath and the big roundels on top. This fit the bill smile

Do it now Dave smile

Last ones for now. I think I'm happy to call this one finished. I should probably help my wife catalogue tins of paint now instead of just emptying them!

Thank you Gents, you are most kind. I think the prop and spinner could use another coat of matt varnish but I'm pleased on the whole.

Now to decide what's next smile
