Any metal workers on here?

Hello,

This was my best guess at the right forum so apologies if I'm way off.

My late father has a fair amount of metal working equipment that I really won't use and therefore would like to sell. The trouble is, I have no idea of value nor how to describe what the items are - or indeed how to identify a lot of the items.

He has a lathe (or maybe two, I'm not sure), this saw thing that you leave resting on a bit of metal and go and have a cup of tea whilst it does its cut (at least that's what my dad used to do...) and a load of chucks(?) and fancy looking measuring devices and so on.

I wondered whether there's a local amateur metal working enthusiast who'd be kind enough to help me identify the items and prepare them for sale. Beer tokens/meal tokens (real ones!) are on offer. I'm really after someone who I can trust not to come in and say "it's all worthless but as a favour I'll take it off your hands for a tenner. I won't even charge you to take the stuff away." This is why I'm approaching a PHer.

it's all based in South Bucks.

I'd really appreciate any help. It's difficult enough with having recently lost my dad, so to be turned over when moving on the stuff he used to love would really be quite unpleasant.

Thanks ShiningWit and benters. Good idea. I'll sort out some pictures and post them up.

I know his lathe is 3-phase and that he has a transformer that weighs and unholy amount (it seems metal work is a hobby for body builders given the weight of everything else). I only know this because someone told me recently.

His lathe is a Warco(?) by the way. It's green and has some knobs on it - does that help?

If you're able to post pics, I could try and do my best to help, I mostly work CNCs though have run a fair amount of older/manual tools in my time.
It's a shame you're not closer or I may have been interested in some of it!

My old man does model engineering; I've asked him. There's a few places to sell them online, and several dealers who'd travel to value the lathe.

I’m not too sure about prices, though. The bandsaw looks like one of Axminster’s bigger ones and might have been £500-600 new. You could try £250 ono.

The Warco lathe again I’m not really familiar with, but it’s about 6in centre height and their new one is about £2500. I think I’d ask £1250 or offers."
