Last week I built my son's remote control car, on the TT-02 chassis. I took it apart last night to clean the insides and apply some grease and noticed that I'd put the electronic speed controller in the wrong place compared to what the manual says, and I'm wondering if this is a problem.

The manual says to stick the ESC to the top of the servo but I've stuck it to the top of the receiver box, next to the motor - as shown in the photo below.

Does anyone know if I should move it? From a cabling perspective it's fine, and also there's plenty of clearance under the body so space isn't a problem. I'm wondering if the heat from the motor (not sure exactly how hot it gets) might affect the ESC as the ESC also has heat fins on it so presumably also gets pretty hot.

Any thoughts?

That's absolutely fine.

Some people will tell you that the ESC, could make the receiver glitch.

But you would know by now, if it were a problem.

brilliant, thanks!

on another note - what sort of maintenance (and how frequent) should I carry out on it? Do I need to semi-dismantle it frequently, including the diffs, and re-grease? Or is it fairly robust and just needs hoovering/cleaning/wiping often?
