Bought my 7 year old nephew a couple of these for Christmas. I've wanted to get him into aeroplanes since he was in nappies so these were just the ticket.

For obvious reasons I got him the Mk I Spitfire and Bf109E. I was absolutely chuffed when he seemed genuinely happy to open them on Christmas morning. He seemed much more excited than he did about any of his other presents. We went out for our pre-dinner walk and he insisted we make them before dinner! smile

So we finally sat down to make them; he assigned me the Spitfire and he the Bf109. There's only about 50 pieces per build, so imagine how gutted I was to find that half of the Spitfire's tail section was missing. frown Yes of course we built the Bf109 but it really tainted what should have been a special memory.

I don't complain about much in life, but I will be complaining to Airfix on Tuesday. I can understand mistakes happen, more so if it's a 500+ piece plastic kit, but not so acceptable in one of these quick build kits made specifically for small children. I'm just glad I had the Spitfire, so he wasn't as disappointed as he might have been.

Poor show Airfix.

Same here with the Victoria Cross Icons gift set - no paints, brushes or glue. There's supposed to be 15 paints, so it can't be hard to miss when boxing up, and you'd have thought even a cursory weight check at the end of the line would pick it up.

Mistakes happen, as annoying as they are. Airfix / Hornby are usually pretty good with such incidents, just send them an email explaining which part you're missing and they should send it to you fairly promptly.

They probably did you a favour: Assuming they're the ones in the small clear plastic containers, the quality of most of them is atrocious from what I've seen.

I'm just going to take it to the store for a replacement. But maybe they'll send a nice reply smile
