LED light kit for non R/C cars

Hello PH, perhaps you can help me with this.
I have a 3yr old nephew who's car mad. I wanted to do something different for his xmas pressie this year in the form of a Bruder Land Rover that has working lights. I bought said model and an LED light kit for RC cars from eBay but the light kit piggybacks of the servo controls to operate the lights. Which is beyond my limited understanding of electronics in terms of making use of it.
Is there an off-the-self kit that I can buy - resistors, leds, battery housing + switches etc that would do the job? Had a look on eBay but I can't find anything...
