I can see there are some very serious modelers on here,so guys what do think of this http://www.buildtheroutemaster.com/ ????? Is it a con.
I`ve seen the TV advert,studied their web site,surely all the hype is very misleading ? have they broken any advertising rules ? they never mention the true cost of this kit.
Correct me if I`m wrong, this kit takes about two years to complete and will cost £1157.00. Do people actually sign up and complete a model like this.

Blimey, you don't get much Lego for £110 these days do you. For the final partwork sum you could probably get an actual Routemaster. Admittedly the Revell kit needs more effort, but £1100 would buy you a lot of kit and a fortnights holiday in Clacton to do it in. I would think that a 1:12th scale model would be way too big to display, and it doesn't seem to look any better than a well made 1:24th Revell.
Some of the models are almost indistinguishable from the real thing. e.g.

I have a Routemaster kit lurking in my stash that I have some ideas for; I want to make a diorama for it, with early/mid 1980s vehicles, but "ordinary" 1:24 vehicle kits for vehicles around that era/age seem quite difficult to get. The Revell Golfs aren't brilliant (and LHD) and it seems Tamiya have stopped making the "proper" Mini kits. At the moment, all I can find that seems to fit is the Italeri Mk.2 Transit. Maybe something for a different thread though.

The only one of these that i have even considered buying was the RC car one they did about 15 years ago (in the days before the internet changed bargain shopping opportunities) when you could buy 4 copies of the first one for £8 and have a nice new set of wheels and tyres for your rc car....
