Bedford MWD model to match real Resto project
Discussion
Hi ,
following on from my build in the Christmas group build thread , I have bought another 1/24 scale Emhar Bedford O series truck kit to modify to replicate the real truck that My Brother and I have just bought to restore.
Kit

Real truck

It will require some scratch building or 3D printing for primarily the nose and wheels. The kit comes with extra panels for the rear bed ( for another truck version ) which will work in place of the high sides .
Kit form services do kits to convert the base kit but cost 3 times the main kit cost.
The fun begins :-)

Morning, the truck started life as a Bedford MWD built in 1941 but We know nothing of it’s war history and never likely to find out unfortunately . It was sold to a small builder in 1947 with the “OY” style cab fitted as many were converted this way. Sometime later was sold to Crossleys garage to be their recovery truck, it had a crane in the back . We have had contact with a couple of guy’s who worked at the garage who drove it for many years.
Not sure how long it was used for before the garage closed down and the truck was sold to a chap who then had it for 15 years awaiting restoration which never happened. We have spoken to him ( it’s had another owner ( 2 years ) and a dealer between him and Us )
Luckily this chap had the big battle with DVLA to get the original reg number returned and it now has a current V5.
What it might have looked like originally......

On second thoughts , probably not going to start a resto thread as We have a facebook page where You can follow our progress.

Excellent-will you be keeping the O type cab or replacing it with a MW open cab?
My father drive an MW whilst he was in the Royal artillery in Hong Kong-in the late fifties.
Have you read the op?My father drive an MW whilst he was in the Royal artillery in Hong Kong-in the late fifties.
Op says he knows about the kfs bits, and that he is modifying the kit to look like the pic of the real one he owns.

Also I didn’t see the reference to KFS-my apologies

This is pistonheads , no one fully reads the opening post
We are keeping it as the garage recovery truck as it spent more of it’s life like that than in the military ( there are loads of green MW’s already , We saw two at one house last weekend whilst collecting some bits )
Brilliant-it will look great!
