Not Moto Gp, but 1/12 Tamiya superbike

Lovely little kit. If there is one it’s worth splashing out for the Tamiya fork set, the only other aftermarket was some carbon fibre decals.

Whats the difference in the fork details?

Basically nicely anodised turned metal to replace the plastic front forks. Tamiya usually chuck in a few extra bits as well, these vary by kit.

Looks excellent what do you use for paint? Airbrush?

Mostly airbrush, but the body panels were done with rattlecan (spray paint)

I think I put the build for this in with my 1/4 scale Ducati build.

The Tamiya 1/12 bikes are great kits, especially the newer ones. Excellent detail and parts fit, straightforward to build. Just beware that, especially with race bikes, there are usually a lot of decals on compound surfaces. If you’re happy with that you’ll have no problems.

I’ve done a couple of bikes, a 916 and an RC30.

The RC30 was the second and the decals were tricky especially over the tail unit. Also cocked up by applying the red decal over the dark blue paint on the bottom of the upper fairing which made the red a bit darker.

Looking at this picture it looks like the Honda wasn’t quite finished when I took this, mirrors and footrests are on now!

I’ve got loads more bikes to tackle, next one up is an NSR250.

I just wish Tamiya would re-release some of the older kits from the two stroke 500 era and the early MotoGP four strokes. They’re crazy money second hand frown

I’ve done a load over the years. Sadly many I discarded over the years as various house moves took their toll. Did the Kenny Roberts rsv last month.
Love doing them even with my basic levels of expertise. I paint most by brush but have started experimenting with rattle cans for bodywork.
I should contemplate an airbrush!
My biggest hate is the decals on bodywork. I always have grief with them. Normally end up having to touch up with a brush and paint. Sorry about the sideways photo . Gives the bikes a used look !-)
