Tank Hill Chobham Common
Discussion
Was out on my motorcycle yesterday and ended up riding through Chobham Common. I decided to stop and take a wander into the common, thinking I might see some R/C models being flown from Tank Hill, where I used to go 35 years ago when I was into R/C aircraft.
Last time I stopped off there was a few years ago, and there were still plenty of R/C planes flying from there, mostly electric. The smell of burning castor oil was absent. But so were all the bushes that formed alcoves, all the hard standing, and everything else. It looks like the plaze has been deliberately cut down rather than destroyed by fire. There were a couple of indian fellows having a picnic under a tree, and that's it.
Does anyone know what has happened? In its heyday there would have been 20-30 people up there flying.
