I have quite a lot of accumulated models in cases that need smart engraved brass nameplates. I bought one a few years ago which had nice bevelled edges and the lettering was filled in black, but can't remember where it came from.

Can anyone recommend a place that offers such things in custom sizes and fonts?

Maybe a good excuse to buy a laser engraver?
Alternatively, a 3D printer if 2 colour plastic plates would suffice?

I'm looking for proper engraved plates; I looked at lasers for a few hundred pounds but think they just etch the surface. Engraving machines seem to be thousands which rules out buying one.

Google it is then!

I tred this many a moon ago...
Get some brass section from B&Q 6mm x1mm cut it to the required length and give it a polish. Then ( now this might not exist any more) get a sp. Letterset from WH Smith, is basically rub on letters / transfers. Then spray laquer. Mine are still good after 25 years. Just a thought....

Your local participation trophy centre will do engraved plaques, a bulk order should get a decent price; certainly the bloke who does it near us is quite flexible about such things and even though he can't beat online prices I'd rather give the money to him than someone dropshipping stuff from china.
