Hi all,

Used to have an RC Plane a few years back, one of those cheap styrofoam ones, was brilliant fun but flimsy (I used to crash it a lot).

Anyway I'm looking at taking up the hobby again, but this time I want to get something solid that will teach me the basics well. So what would you guys recommend, am open to all suggestions but try to keep the budget reasonably low.

Thanks

Also links to good sites for buying these would be appreciated.

Any of this lot are good.

I had a Stryker. http://www.parkzone.com/Products/Default.aspx?Prod...

They are really easy to get the hang of but are also pretty quick and do all the acrobatics. Easy enough to repair for when you bin it too.

Been out of the hobby for some 20 yrs, so thought it best to learn again!
just got a Parkzone cub. Bit basic only 3 channel but robust enough. Been out twice with it now and the co ordination is starting to come back to us.
Actually landed it 3 times tonight deliberatly laugh

I've posted this info before, but a tried and trusted route that a few friends, including me, is:

First ever plane: HobbyZone Super Cub @ £110 - 3 channel starter plane, very robust.

If you have flying experience, the Parkzone T-28 Trojan @ £140 is hard to beat. Full 4 channel, is a dream to fly, very easy to land on rough grass and has a high/low rate switch on the controller. Can't recommend this enough.

I love parkzone stuff. Had a spit an fw190 and 2 mustangs.
As an easy route to the air, they cannot really be beaten.
The main reason for me suggesting the nemo was if you are re- learning, it us far more resiliant than parkzone stuff
It's also £80 including battery, transmitter, servos and even a flight sim.
It can be dropped from 70 feet and still have no real damage, and if it does break it's dead easy to glue up due to the foam it's made from.

That said, if you are confident, get the parkzone spit and the li po upgrade, it's about all you will ever need

If you are looking at getting back into flying again, but are worried (rightly so) about stuffing your models, I would suggest that you seriously consider a PC simulator.

I did this 5 years ago, but not before learning the hard way - I bought a cheap used Ikarus game commander (hand held R/C) off eBay & downloaded FMS for free........later upgrading to Aerofly Pro.

You can buy the simulator NEW (including softwar for around £16

Parkzone Cub is a great starter plane. Only thing I don't like about parkzone is the crummy NiMH batteries. They are way under specced for the load. More high performance ones come with lipo and brushless which is so much better. Looking at getting a Radian myself...

The Super Cub uses a NiMH battery, but the Parkzone Trojan & Corsair come with 1800mAh LiPo's...

That's right, but the flight characteristics of those are not quite beginner friendly. Really, a Lipo powered Cub would be best. No battery issues, charge over an dover again same day etc. Shame that a lipo / brushless version of the cub isn't available.

I am only asking as I am quite interested in getting one to piss about on at the canal bank as my hydroplane is dead frown
