Pretty impressive.

The 1/32 Trumpeter Lightning is not cheap - best part of £100 in the UK.

Even their new 1/72 Lightnings are around £18.00 each.

A major part of my role on Rapier in the RAF Reg't was aircraft recognition & if it wasn't for the compressor I'd have been completely suckered in............well done, fantastic image/model. clap

That is one gorgeous model. May have to get one myself, although I'm waiting for the 1/24th scale Mossie and the 1/350th Illustrious.

Stunning photography, that metal finishes on that model is awesome - it it all done with clever painting or is the body actually metal?

It's kitchen foil, rather expertly applied - more here

Your joking! I'd love to see WIP shots if that's true. Makes this model even more impressive if that's the case...

Peter has done a number of models using this technique. I've tried it myself but not with much success and prefer to use Alclad paints instead.

Here's a couple more he's done..

From what I've been reading, Eric, it is actually kitchen foil as in a couple of articles he mentions using the non shiny side rather than the shiny side. There are also references to the differences between BMF and kitchen foil.

Here's another F-100D Super Sabre he has produced in which he specifically mentions kitchen foil;

Peter Doll Super Sabre

His models look really good - however, I think houshold foils probably only work best in the larger scales he is using (1/32).

I've recently started using Alclad laquer which I think gives a more subtle look for smaller scales.
