Hi all.
ive posted a question before but did not get much success

im on a mission this year. well going to start in 2010
bought this item rc surfer liesa a few months ago (purely as a project)with the intension of upgradeing the
motor
waterproofing
battery
and anything else to make this thing BAD ASS

I have not much experience in electric motors but I have a wide experience in Nitro rc, I know you cant compare the two but like I said its a project and im willing to learn.

SO what you guys recon, what should I do, any advice, recomendations, or maybe you have one of these rc surfers and you can offer me some advice. I heard they leak and I have every intension of possibly (well eventually ) useing it in sea water. An american company have these with reconditioned parts and brushless motors but i dont have the 600-700 dollars.

well looking forward to your replies
god bless you all
and happy 2010
I can post more pics if you like

Is the motor turning a propeller?
I would guess a brushless motor and lipo battery setup would would- you would need a suitable speed controller of course.

I would think waterproofing would be the hardest part.

How large is the model, and how much does it weigh?
That should give an idea of what setup you would need. Bear in mind that the balance point may alter due to differing weights etc so check and record that before you take it to bits!!

hi there
yes it is driving a propeller, and it has been build and designed to self right itself
ive attached a you tube video to give you an idea of how I could modify the rc surfer.

Looking at that video, I would be inclined to leave well alone- it's plenty quick enough, any more power, the bow will rise too fast and have stability issues. I would concentrate on getting the condition of the existing gear better and just enjoy it for what it is?

Silicon sealant everywhere you need it, ptfe tape where the hull joins, and stick a piece of polystyrene over the electrics?
Aids bouyancy, keeps most things dry.
A better battery will give far more duration than the old ones ever did- I have one in a tamiya rc car and it runs for over half an hour!

Good luck- go and enjoy it, I hadn't seen one before, but it's a great piece of kit
