Airbrush Refurbishment
Discussion
Quick thumbs up for "Restoration Supplies" who have just rebuilt my DeVilbiss Aerograph Super'63.
It was getting a bit long in the tooth, and spares were getting impossible to find (to the extent I was making my own components for certain things). I was looking online for a replacement (maybe an Iwata) when someone pointed me in the direction of these guys:
www.restorationsupplies.co.uk
I decided to give them a go. They machined my original body and fitted the latest specification air valve, cleaned and lubricated everything, replaced the needle, and all rubber seals with Teflon, and did a spray test sheet. The airbrush is now *far* easier and more consistent to use, and all spares for the new valve are widely available. I posted it to them on Wednesday, got it back this morning (Saturday).
I will reserve final judgement until I've completed a model with it, but it seems that they have done a superb job. Cost? £58 all-in, including postage.
It's great to be able to say something positive about a service someone provides.
Cheers,
Dr_GN

Do they refurbish old Badgers?
Hmmm, looks like just Aerograph and Iwata:http://www.restorationsupplies.co.uk/acatalog/copy...

My 16 year old Badger is feeling its age. It works - now and then.
That's what mine was like, Russian roulette: perfect results one minute, spattered mess the next (mainly because of my home-made air valve components). Got fed up of ruining almost perfect work...I thought for the sake of £180 I'd treat myself to a new one, but £58 appeals to the miser in me. Plus there's the sentimental value of course. Also, the test sheet they've sent me proves the thing is capable of work infinitely finer than I'll ever need.I think old Badgers should be allowed to retire in peace. Is 16 old for a Badger ? Do they count actual years x7, like dogs, or just ordinary years ? Do they get refurbished on the BHS, (Badger version of the NHS), ? Do they get sett in their ways, I wonder. Finally; why the sudden concern over an undeniably cute but aggressive mammal on the modelling topic ?
Have I missed something ?
