After crashing my Yak-54 on it's first flight (as a result of my own stupid fault, I might add) I decided to replace the power unit. The propshaft on the reduction gearbox of the original power unit was bent so out it went along with the small inrunner brushless.

In comes a 2217 outrunner brushless. Swinging the same prop size as before it now goes vertical on half throttle. biggrin I love it...! Just got to learn how to fly the darn thing properly now.

Nice. Looks a similar kind of thing to my Extra 300S (which I have snapped clean in half on at least one occasion). How is take-off with that wire u/c ? Mine is marginal on grass.

Taking off on tarmac, so no problem. I think the wheels are a bit small and the length of the wire struts are such that they'd spring backwards and forwards when rolling on grass and cause it to fall over itself on all but the smoothest of surfaces. till. It was $60 incl motor and ESC. Bargain...!

Here's mine:

Was about £50 including a brushless motor and gearbox. I put bigger wheels on it for grass. Only real downside is that spares are difficult to get. Mines now held together with Araldite and Sellotape.

Ha...! Looks cool. I plan to get a few more HobbyKing models. Great value and work extremely well. The little F-18 EDF I have been playing with is great too. That was only $15 more than the Yak. Both came with motor, servos and ESC. Can't go wrong.

That said, I am fancying a large scale r/c Boys C152 right now. Just don't seem to be able to get them in Europe frown
