Remember seeing a mk1 golf gti model (revell i think) a few years ago and cant seem to find any info on them now.

Anyone know of any VW Golf models in 1:18 scale, preferable metal bodied. (mk1 and mk2 gti)

Also, long shot, any idea where a Mk1 Golf Gti convertible can be found?

I'm quite partial to this model by Maisto.

Came with a large set of models I gave my children at Christmas. Had to rescue this as it was too nice. Now sits on my desk in the office!

got mine on ebay..had to get it from japan at the time but you can get em in the uk

then poach another kit for fancy wheels

they have a sealed closed bonnet , thats the only downside , although the detail is top notch ...you could rob an engine from the revel one and cut the bonnet if you are keen enough

that is very cool, cheers guys!

Thinking about making a few models this year and thought there is no better inspiration than my own and friends show cars.

What is going on with that MK2?It is massively out of proportion. Looks more like a slightly scaled up Metro. No offence but it looks very very odd and not like a MK2 Golf at all.

If you need fancy wheels just do a search on eBay, I found a set of BBS's for a Tamiya MX-5 that way.

Just go to Buy - Toys and Games - Model Kits - 1/24 scale, then type 'wheels' in the Find box.

I've done it for you:

The car looks fine, but the huge wheels with balloon tyres ruin it. The standard car behind looks awesome smile
