Not really into building models on a regular basis (I would probably get the squadron markings wrong or something wink ) but I do like painting a model. Decided to pick up the brashes again after a Looooong time and what better place to start than a really complex and detailed resin statue hehe

Anyway, it's not a full WIP as I lost some early pictures of everything unpainted so here's a random selection of where I am so far....

Here's the bits that make up the figure himself, mostly unpainted, but with a few bits painted in the back...

A few close ups of the painted base...

The "finished" leg's...

Torso held in place to see how things might look (and get an idea of pose). You can see how big the guy is in this shot...

First pass at the backpack...

Will try and post some more pictures as time goes on and once all painted and together I will be attacking the paint again to clear up any bits I'm not happy with and to make things more coherent over the whole figure.

My younger brother was into Warhammer years ago. so this figure looks a lot bigger than I remember them to be!

Looks good though.

On a related note, why hasn't there been a film of these? You'd think it's a fairly "Hollywood" Sci-Fi concept laugh

They have grown a bit laugh

Funny you should mention movies... they are making a CGI one now with some reasonable actors providing voices and facial motion capture... John Hurt, Terrence Stamp, Sawn Pertwee etc.

That's looking pretty damned good there chap, i paint his smaller 28mm cousins funnily enough. Forgeworld stuff is very purdy, have you thought about tackling a titan yet?

There's also a modelling magazine out at the moment where a chap has taken that SM figure an converted it, it looks awesome. Below is that same SM, can't find what magazine it is atm, but it's in WH SMiths and has said marine on the cover.

Can't beleive it has taken me so long to reply DOH!!. Currently the figure looks like this...

(not the best photo I know frown )
I would say about 90% there. Still havent finished the shoulder pads but needed to put him together to get the "feel" of how they should be finished. Current thinking is to mask off the ultra marines logo them paint the center of the pads matt black. Then I have some "crackle" varnish to age the logo. I want to get it right so not rushing the finishing.

Then I have a few grenades and belt additions to paint, etc..

I will finish it soon laugh
