This time it is a 1:16th Tiger I tank. http://www.ww2tigertank.co.uk/

First week 50p. The rest? A mere 139 weeks at £4:99.

Six hundred and ninety four pounds, eleven pence! What on earth can they find that will take nearly three years to say? Unlike the Flying Scotsman, the quality doesn't look brilliant on the on in the TV ads.

Who manufactures the original model and how much would it be to buy as a kit?

Blimey, for that sort of money I'd go for a Tamiya R/C tank

I seem to remember that they tried this one a few years ago and it flopped, as in after a few issues flopped. 'Forces of Valour' seems to come to mind as the potential originator back then.

I think they work on the basis that people who know little about modelling will see it on telly, want to 'have a go', and then lose interest. Hence the previous models that were discontinued, leaving the few people who are daft enough to have persevered, with models that can never be finished. There are far better options out there for anyone wanting a model of a Tiger Tank, Lancaster, Flying Scotsman, HMS victory etc etc etc.

Its the lure of paying a small amount each week that does the trick.

I must admit I thought it looked fantastic but I'd not fall for the £700 to complete it.

It might be based on the Trumpeter kit:

http://www.hannants.co.uk/product/TU00906 £342:99, £308 at eModels.

Add in the price of the "free" tool kit, paints, binders, and 140 thin magazines, that would be about the right money.

Total Parts
1285 pcs on 43 sprues, 4 sheets of photo-etched parts, diecast metal sprocket & idler wheels, aluminium gun barrel, metal tow cables, etc.

There are two sets parts for the Upper Hull, Lower & Upper Turret and the Inner Turret Wall, each moulded both in clear and grey plastic so you can build this huge model either as a clear version to show the full interior details or with usual painted parts.

Paint Schemes
Pz.Kpfw.VI "Tiger II" Ausf.B (SdKfz 182) of the 1st Company Schwere Heeres Panzer Abteilung FHH, Hungary, Jan£Feb 1945.

THIS IS A LIMITED EDITION £ NO MORE WHEN THE FEW WE HAVE AVAILABLE HAVE SOLD

Yes it is huge, I bought it back in May. But this is the Tiger II or King Tiger
the Hatchette (sp) one is the Tiger I, which from what I have read does appear to be based on the Forces of Valour model.

Fine if you want a piecemeal kit, but false economy in my view, you would be far better off going for a Tamiya one and save around £100-150.
