That's pretty big. Have you seen the Sanger B52 in 1/48? It has a 3.8 foot wingspan!

No idea what scale or make it was, but I built one in the late 50s that was quite large.

I believe the Monogram 1:48th B-17 is quite old and would turn out a fairly large kit. I have a Revell boxing in the stash as it features markings for "Memphis Belle" bought for me by my wife as she loves the film.

Where I would put it once it's built I don't know, so 1:32nd is out of the question.

There was a guy on Britmodeller supposedly scratchbuilding a 1:24 scale B-17 not so long ago. I think he got as far as the instrument panel before giving up.

When I was in my pre-teen airfix model phase, my piece de resistance was a 1/72 B-52.

I'm amazed they go any bigger than that, gluing the fuselage together on that one was a real struggle as by the time I'd gone all the way round the glue had dried! It took me 3 goes in the end if memory serves.

Yes I remember the thread now you mention it. I think that just a cockpit in 1:24th would be nice, shame he gave up.

edited to sort out quoting.

TBH, he seems to give up on most of his projects after an initail period of enthusiasm and fanfare. If you look at his profile, he's started dozens of models and has only finished one or two. He recently started a full-on 1:144 Space Shuttle and complete launch complex which will no doubt end up unfinshed too.

I built the Monogram 1/48 B-29 many years ago. I think the same range also encompassed a B-36, which would probably be larger than a 1/32 B-17.

Very satisfying to do, but you need a dedicated room to display.

I built the Monogram 1/48 B24. Two things I remember were that a. it was huge and too big and heavy for its undercarriage to support, and b. the turrets were moulded in two halves so there was an unsightly glue join around it.

When I finished it I realised the Liberator is quite an ugly aeroplane.
