Just finished the crane. Nothing spectacular, but quite pleased with it, especially since it was only £6! Very good model considering the age. I'm hoping to use it in a 'dockside' diorama with the Supermarine Walrus.

Humbrol Paint, with MIG dark wash and Tamiya Weathering Master mascara, overall coat of Xtracolour XDFF matt varnish. Built with no mods apart from the chain 'load' and I added a load of lead shot in the chassis and cab to counterbalance it a bit.

Very nice. You could improve it with some proper couplings and track to ScaleFour standards.

Yeah I wondered about cutting the couplings and adding some real chain, but...what do you suggest? It's easy enough to remove them.

The track won't be used for the diorama, it'll all be inset into some 'concrete' probably.

I like it!

Just a Shagbat to hang now then.

The weathering has worked well too.

I think that sinking a track in your dockside would look good and be "realistic" for the purpose of the dio

Cheers Perdu.

Got to build the Shagbat first!

I tested it on an ancient Revell Fiat Falco I have on a shelf, and it looked quite good!

You can get proper scale coupling hooks and chains from finescale model railway suppliers, scalefour.org is a good place to start.

Indeed but what would improve imeasurably would be some finescale track or rails if you are going to embed them in the concrete ground of the dockside.

Thanks guys, will look into it. It might all look rubbish anyway in which case it will end up on a siding on the layout.

Nice and worn looking.

On the topic of Shagbats, I picked up an Azur model of its successor, the Sea Otter, on Monday. It was an impulse buy and one I don't plan on building just yet. I'll do a Walrus first.

I like that a lot. Will look great with the Shagbat attached.

The French equivalent of the Walrus is rather interesting as well, the Loire 130 looks very similar apart from the fact that it's a monoplane.

Never seen one of those before - it looks like it would make a nice model. Some interesting colour schemes too.
