Get someone to design the number plate on a computer, then print it onto clear or white decal paper. Then you can apply it just like any other decal.
Like the one I did for this 1/16 scale MGB:

That's a stonker of a model. What make is it?Like the one I did for this 1/16 scale MGB:
My Dad got a 1:18 (IIRC) Green MGB roadster free with a Motor Sport subscription. It is by far the best MGB model I've ever seen. The make was unknown, made in China.

Not sure now; couple of years ago I was asked to put a number plate on it, change the colour of the rocker cover, give it a sunroof and convert it from plastic to chrome bumpers (customer had supplied an additional model with chrome bumpers so all I had to do was swap them over - plus the grille of course). Come to think of it, I probably had to change the wheels as well.Just had a look on the net - think it was the Universal Hobbies one in 1/18 scale.
Edited to add extra photos.
Thie second photo is the finished model and shows that the wheels weren't swapped; I remember now I did swap them, then realised he's specified Rostyles so had to swap them back. This was the most difficult part of the operation, rear wheels just slipped off the axles but at the front the whole suspension had to be changed.
