Foam Glue

I managed to stuff my Parkzone RC Trojen in a tree today... the rudder fin has snapped off... but its a nice clean break, and i think will be a very easy repair.
Its made out of polystyrene or more specifically 'Z-foam' as parkzone call it.

anyone got any recommendations for good glue to use for repairs?

preferably wanting to buy online, so again any recommendtions of trusted companies to order from?

UHU por (UHU45900) is the stuff you'll be after. Plenty of places stock it online and it's about £2 to £3 for a 40g tube.

I always favour hot glue sticks- instant fixing.

Nice plane though- they fly really well

thanks for the tips....

will get the UHU, but also think i will go and buy a hot glue gun/sticks tomorrow. Will be nice to have an instant fix, as it will be less awkward than trying to find a way to support the two pieces.

thanks, yea I really the parkzone planes... nice and simple and seem to fly very well (when anyone other than myself is at the controls!) I think i want the Super Decathlon and maybe the extra for when i get a little better too!

Tend to use mainly epoxy for most repairs, or builds for that matter. For something like a fin breaking off I would let in a couple of short lengths of thin carbon fibre rod 2mm dia or so to act as a splint

Should be able to better the price from your local hobby shop, and they are superb. Stable as anything, and plenty of poke.

had a little bit of a disaster trying to find glue.. i live in the middle of no-where so the closest 2 model shops are a good 40 min, in opposite directions...
One i drove to yesterday and was closed (should have called before!) the other had the UHU POR in stock, so went there today.
Managed to fix it, but in the end used the simple method of the glue gun!
Took the advice and put a little splint in there too, and it is totally solid. so thats good news!

That extra does look very good, will look into that when i get a bit better with this one.

Nice looking Extra but IMHO the foam in Tog Gun models isnt as resiliant as Parkzone stuff. A couple of lads at our field have Parkzone Extras and they realy are good

Im pretty sold on the parkzone kit too... especially as i have the charger, radio gear etc, and the 'bind to fly' is a nice simple idea too. I have only recently got into RC planes. Years ago used to have a Nitro powered trainer.. but the amount of effort that took for a quick flight meant I could never really be arsed.
But the electrics are cheap clean and easy.... And make much more sense, I have really enjoyed flying this parkzone plane.

I took the trojen out again today, with my gopro camera attached to it... which is a little to heavy, and makes for a challanging flight, especially as i struggled without the extra drag/weight! but video came out fairly well!

I think i will practice a fair bit more, then go for soemthing like the extra.

Yea I like the Parkzone stuff. Started with the Super cub and got the Stryker and Wildcat. Tend to use these as practise fodder for my crunchie models where you dont get a second chance if they go in. The Stryker has given me confidence to fly EDF jets and with the Wildcat I can practise aerobatic paterns before trying the same manouveres with a more fragile model. Link to Kingslynn models is a Seagull Nemesis 56in span fop 40/50 ic but running it on 4 cell pulling 37amp
Needs a bit more thruch may end up on 5 cell will try a 14 in prop first

Unfortunately, the performance is very restricted with the camera mounted, so i need a fair bit more practice without the camera before I try again I think!
Will take it out for a bit more practice again tomorrow.

Its a very unimpressive video, and annoying the lens got wet on take off (I should have hand-launched, and the undercarriage would have survved too!), but im happy enough as i have bugger all experience of flying RC...

The ducted fan jets do look great fun, im certainly a long way off them yet!
That Nemeisis does look very good too!

I think this might get quite expensive for me...
