New radio controlled model car club near Chichester.
Discussion
Hi,
I've started a new model car club for 1/10 scale electric off road cars. Meetings will be on a wednesday evening from 6.30 - 10pm at the new 'bracklesham barn' community hall in bracklesham bay, west Sussex.
The club will have 3 'try before you buy' cars for people looking to join in the fun.
There will be an open evening on the 13th April and then the first proper meeting will be on the 20th April.
There will also be an open heat for people with other types of car.
For more information see www.bmcr.co.uk or email bmcrinfo AT yahoo.co.uk
Thanks

£7 seems quite a lot for a wednesday evening race.
Also, are you looking purely at buggy type racing. We have found that the most popular class is the M chassis class with Tamiya M03's and M05's in fwd, and the new M06 in rwd which works well on carpet.
That may be a goood class to entice the guys that race at Bognor on a Monday and you arent too far from Horsham for the guys at Southwater to join you.
Yes I have a club section on oople
I want to do off road so that people can also race at TIchfield on a Sunday should they wish. It also ads another element to have jumps
Every club I've been to with my off road car has been £8 entry so I think £6 for members and £8 for non members is ok but will monitor that. Under 16s are £4 and £6 respectively and anyone who helps back up gets £1 back.
There will also be a Class for 1/18th scale micro off road.
The website is now updated with a video of the track and more information about the club. Www.bmcr.co.uk
Yet another user name that hopefully the mods won't ban!

I always struggled to find anywhere near Chichester let alone in it to race. I always ran 1/10th touring cars pre brushless motors but the costs were going balistic to race at a competitive level. Really gave it up a couple of years ago as I was travelling to either Horsham for indoors and Eastbourne for outdoor racing for weekday stuff and then most of southern england for the regional races.
Might have a look into it seeing as it's on my doorstep.

We're now running 1/18 as well.
Here's some pics from this week.

I have some time next week to make the table top about 6ft long. Another idea is to buy a school PE bench and use that as the rostrum at the side of the hall. The new drivers find it much easier to stand at the side of the hall rather than on the stage. We could then make a ramp up onto the stage area for an extra challenge and increase the size of the track.
I have also dropped the prices a bit for entry - see www.bmcr.co.uk for details.

A video from last night. New track layout and micro's are steadily becoming more popular than 1/10th.
