Hdi Headgasket

Just been quoted approx £700 for a headgasket on our 306 Hdi.. Which isles than the car is worth.

Does anyone know if this is the going
rate ?, it's a nice late model estate, but
£700 !

That's not a bad price as to do this job the engine needs to be removed to gain access to the turbo area.

Hmm thought so, excuse my ignorance but are all fitments of HDi engines, 406, Xsara, C5 etc as problematic, and is the older 1.9 diesel, Turbo & Non as difficult to repair.
